Diamonds & Pearls; Support the Dyke March!

The next two Ships parties are sure to be a blast.
SF Ships has a theme this time: dress up in yr gaudiest Diamonds & Pearls, or just come out and dance to beats  from DJ's Durt, Black, and special guest Oliver.
Oakland Ships is a benefit for the Dyke March.  Check out info below.
Tell your friends, bring a date, and come out to one or both!

For more info on why the Dyke March needs help, check out this link:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=133455806727885

The Dyke March needs funds to pay for permits that the City has typically waived. Now with the "economic crisis" (where is all that money goin? hmmm....), the city wants the the organizers of the Dyke March to pay-up and the group has been getting less of the generous private funding that they have come to depend on.

While we all know the Dyke March could happen without permits, its also important to have an event that is safe for people who don't necessarily want to risk arrest just to come out to the park, bring their kids, ride their bike, get drunk, protest, enjoy performers, and/or flash their boobs. Lets make sure there's port-a-potties for everyone to use and that it can continue to be an accessible event for all dykes, everywhere and our friends to come and enjoy.

Also, the Dyke March is looking for volunteers, so if you want to make an impact with it, check out the website and get involved: http://thedykemarch.org/

A Benefit for Dyke March. Nuff Said! ....Is it June yet???

♥ ♥ ♥
The Dyke March Needs Your Help
And YOU can SAVE it!

DONATE NOW: http://thedykemarch.org/donate

After 18 years the Dyke March Committee is having serious financial difficulty that may result in canceling all or part of this year's march.
...
WHY?
The economic downturn has hit us hard. In the past The SF Dyke March has been made possible through generous grants from fabulous organizations, donations and fee waivers from the city and minimal private fund raising. Those grants have been cut, our insurance is no longer covered and due to city deficits many of the fees that have been waived can no longer be covered by the city. You know this can’t happen without port-o-potties!

THE PLAN:
We need to raise $30,000. At least half needs to come in the next month to make the Dyke March happen. Our mission is to get 2,000 people to donate at least $10 each in the next 30 days. Please donate as much as you can to help close the remaining gap!

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

DONATE $10 (or more!)
SHARE Email everyone you know & invite folks to the Facebook event
ASK your friends if they’ve donated their $10

YOU CAN HELP MAKE THE DYKE MARCH HAPPEN!

DONATE NOW: http://thedykemarch.org/donate
For more information: http://thedykemarch.org/
To volunteer--we can use any and all skills you have, contact info@thedykemarch.org

celebrate March birthdays, and the origins of ships in the night~ started 5 years ago at a lil bar called the Gangway in SF by durt and paulo to provide a fun, radical queer dance party space for those who don't always fit in at the fancy gay clubs and all our freaky friends with good music to bump booties to. it has now evolved into a TRANSBAY radical queer dance party for ALL the homos and our loving allies. ships in the night has always been a fun-time as well as a community organizer that raises much needed funds for different groups and social justice causes. ships has raised $10,000 over the years for the good fight(s) and we're gonna keep going!

if you are interested in getting involved in ships in the night: DJing, working the door, designing fliers, taking photos, performing, have a cause that needs $, or generally want to volunteer with the ships crew, feel free to contact us at shipsinthanight@gmail.com.

AND A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED SHIPS OVER THE YEARS AND CONTINUES TO "BUST A MOVE" IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD!!!

lotsa love!
